Eight people showed up this summer and they went further than i thought they would.

the class
I wrote this so each of you can see the thing that stuck with me instead of a generic thanks at the end of the summer.

He went and learned it.
Anthony walked in caring a lot about security without a real engineering background, then he went and finished security certs on his own time outside of work. What got me was how hungry he was to actually learn to build and to use ai for real, because he went way past what i thought he'd do this summer.

Day two and he already got it.
The first time i looked at what ahmed was doing he had already taken the requirements and turned them into mockups that basically matched, and the part that got me was the product thinking behind it. If i was an officer clocking in i wouldn't want to click nine different things just to do it, and he had that instinct on day two without me walking him through any of it.

She did more than we asked.
Abia went past what we asked for on the kat research and poc work, and that extra effort is a big part of why the mockups and the requirements gathering actually landed.

in the building
Most of this was just us in the office and then dinner after.

A week in and he's already in it.
Juan only joined about a week ago and he's already doing really well with product testing and the knowledge transfer sessions, so i'm excited to keep working with him.

New, and she just figures it out.
I haven't had a full summer with nidhi yet but i've already been impressed because she notices the small stuff and she doesn't wait around to be walked through every step so she just figures it out.

Nidhi

First client demo and he ran it.
Smarak did his first client demo and he handled it really well, and you could see that founder mindset in how he ran it.

He cares about the little stuff.
Abraham has that product thinking where he cares about the details before anything gets drawn, and i was pretty blown away by how much that showed up in the work.

She was carrying a lot of adox.
Victoria was doing a lot of the heavy lifting on adox even when it wasn't the loudest work in the room, because once i looked at the mockups and the requirements i realized she was carrying a huge part of that project.
